A brilliant book. It does not sentimentalize the holocaust in any way and in a clear matter of fact way reveals the senselessness and incomprehensibility of its evil. Kertesz basically got the Nobel Prize for this book, which is fair enough. Best thing on the holocaust I have ever come across. I strongly recommend that you read this book, which is not just good as the tale of a survivor, but also with how people do survive and also don't survive captivity, injustice and trauma.
