The poetry is very beautiful. I have to admit that I liked the bits that were not philosophical more than the bits that were philosophical, but it is quite interesting.
It serves as a good introduction to Hindu beliefs and is very very pretty. I am not sure that in the end it is not self contradictory and while it addresses this, I don't know what it would mean practically, but I suppose that all religions are like that.
Taken from a purely literary point of view, it is better than the Bible, but not as good as the Iliad or even The Epic of Gilgamesh. Its a book everybody should read and it is also a pleasant and pretty read.
